Beltane-May Day Celebration

This event presented to you by

First Metaphysical Church of Davison

On May 1 at 3pm - 5pm
Repeats? - - No

Beltaine is the last of the three spring festivals, the others being Imbolc and Ostara. It is the second principal Celtic festival (the first being Samhain), and traditionally marked the arrival of summer in ancient times. Celebrated on May 1st, it is also known as May Day and has been a global celebration for millennia. Beltaine is a Celtic word which means 'fires of Bel', Bel being a Celtic deity. It is a fire festival that celebrates the coming of summer and the fertility of the coming year. Fire was thought to cleanse, purify, and increase fertility. Cattle were often passed between two bonfires; the properties of the flame and smoke were believed to ensure the fertility of the herd.

Join us at the by the bonfires as we celebrate the coming of Summer for ritual and the traditional dance of the Maypole. Pot luck to follow.
