Folk Medicine Cabinet

This event presented to you by

Little Truths

On July 12 at 6pm - 8pm
Repeats? - - No

Minjung (many of her friends call her MJ), formerly a medical and pharmaceutical translator as well as a certified medical interpreter, is a foraging instructor of Will Forage for Food (willforageforfood.com). She teaches edible and medicinal plants in Wayne and surrounding counties.

What’s in your medicine cabinet? Before the age of over-the-counter remedies, our mothers and grandmothers have taken care of our families with old recipes. In this series of classes, we will learn how to prepare some common remedies from lawn weeds and garden herbs.

Dates: July 12, 19, 26 (Tuesdays)

Time: 6 – 8 PM
Price: $60 for all three classes, $25 for one class before June 30
$75 for all three classes, $30 for one class after July 1
Contact Little Truths at moc.liamg|1shturTelttiL#moc.liamg|1shturTelttiL to recieve an invoice to secure your spot in the class.

NOTE: This is a 3 week series workshop! It is highly recommended to attend all 3 classes but, not necessary.

Week 1: Preparation Methods and Making Tincture
During the lecture, common techniques to extract and preserve medicinal properties of herbs will be discussed. To practice one of the easiest and most common techniques, tincturing, we will make a cold/headache tincture from pre-harvested herbs.

Week 2: Foraging Your Own Herbs
For this class, we will meet at the Central Park. We will cover basic foraging rules and 4 to 5 plants in depth.

Week 3: Making Salve
The lecture will cover a few recipes that the participants can try at home. We will finish the tincture that we started 2 weeks ago and will make a skin salve.
